The Department is one of the four prestigious Departments in the country that runs M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in Agro-Chemicals. It also offers courses in basic chemistry to all UG students and
PG students in the University. It is engaged in research on chemistry of natural products, botanical and synthetic pesticides, composites,
and synthetic polymers wood treatment, flame retardants and
supercritical fluid synthesis. The expertise of the Department in pesticide residue analysis is well recognized.Work
in role of pheromones in integreted pest management and non
equilibirium thermodynamic studies on transport across artificial
membranes, plant nutrients, soil interaction studies are also being
carried out. The department is well equipped with modern analytical
facilities like UV-VIS spectrophotometers, GC, HPLC and supercritical
fluid reactors.
