About Department
Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology has the distinction of being not only the country’s first agricultural university, but also of establishing, in 1969, a separate Directorate of Translation and Publication to change the medium of instruction at the undergraduate level from English to Hindi in keeping with the National Education Policy. The objective of this directorate was to publish textbooks in Hindi for undergraduate students of agriculture and allied subjects, as the literature necessary for this change of medium. Initially, books translated from English into Hindi were published, but later only books written originally in Hindi by scientists were published. These books relate to agriculture, animal husbandry, veterinary science, home science, agricultural technology and so on. At present, useful books are also being published in Hindi for farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, unemployed youth and others. As a result of the tireless and continuous efforts of scientists and linguists, this directorate has set a record by publishing a large number of books in Hindi on agriculture and allied subjects.
To smoothly run this university’s Hindi book publication programmes, financial support and guidance are being received under the extensive scheme for publishing original books in Hindi, through the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (presently under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India).

Terms and Conditions of Sale
- Packing and forwarding charges are to be borne by the customer.
- Bank drafts sent for advance payment or for the price of books should be made in favour of the Comptroller, Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, and should be sent to the address of the Officer Incharge, Directorate of Publication, Pantnagar.
- In Pantnagar there are branches only of State Bank of India (Code No. 1133), UCO Bank (Code No. 678) and Punjab National Bank (Code No. 4446). Therefore bank drafts should be payable at these banks only. Payment by cheque will not be accepted.
- Bank draft commission is to be borne by the customer. You may also deposit the amount directly into the bank account. The bank account details are as follows:
